Privacy policy
This policy explains what the CFU Calculator website collects, what it does not, and which third-party requests the pages make. It applies to this website only.
Calculator inputs stay in your browser
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The values you enter — colony counts, OD readings, volumes, calibration parameters — are processed locally by client-side code and are never transmitted to a server operated by this site. Closing or refreshing the page discards them. The copy and CSV export features only act when you initiate them, and the exported file stays on your device.
What this site does not collect
The site does not use analytics, advertising trackers, or tracking cookies. There are no user accounts, no login, and no contact form — contact happens by email, described below. No behavioral profiling or cross-site tracking takes place, and no data is sold or shared with third parties for marketing.
Third-party requests: fonts
The pages load the JetBrains Mono typeface from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser fetches these files, Google's servers receive your IP address and standard request headers such as the user agent, subject to Google's own privacy policy. This is the only third-party request the site's code makes. If you prefer to avoid it, blocking requests to those domains leaves the site readable in a fallback monospace font.
Server logs
As with any website, the hosting provider that serves these pages processes ordinary request logs — typically IP address, timestamp, requested URL, and user agent — for operating and securing the service. What is retained, and for how long, is determined by the hosting provider's own policy. This site itself does not combine request logs with any other data.
If you email the address on the contact page, your message — including your email address and anything you choose to write — is used only to read and respond to you. It is not added to any list, and there is no newsletter or mailing list on this site.
Changes to this policy
If the site's behavior changes — for example, if analytics or a contact form are ever added — this page will be updated before or at the same time as the change. The version history of the site's source, where public, provides the record of edits.
